Having pets is a wonderful thing and fun but cleaning after them isn't that great, especially when the cleaning is in the house, training your dog to not do his business in the house takes time and a lot of patience, and there will always be accidents, the smell remains if not properly cleaning the area and after some time if left unattended the smells will be a lot harder to remove. In this article, we will help you with some cleaning tips and tricks to hopefully make cleaning easier.

Pet Stains

Let talk about how to remove stains first, there are different ways of removing stains but before cleaning with any products our best defense is, as soon as you see an accident is to blot as much as you can with towels trying to remove as much of the urine as possible after that get your preferred cleaning solution we recommend using an enzyme-based product or create a vinegar cleaning solution. Making a cleaning solution using vinegar is simple all you need is vinegar and water but if you want a better and more versatile cleaning solution you can add lemon peels and let it rest for a couple of days, this will give you a better and a nicer smelling solution. Once you have your cleaning solution, mix it with cold water using equal parts, pour it over the area slowly letting it sit for about 15 minutes, then use layers of paper towels to soak up the liquid. Before the area drys completely cover it with baking soda to finish drying and to absorb the bad odor, you might have to repeat these steps more than once to ensure that the stain as we'll all as the order are removed properly.

Another way of cleaning pet stains would be with a carpet cleaner, if you have this problem very often then we recommend investing in one of these, they are very simple to use and very effective if used the right way. Instead of using cold water,  you will be using hot water and adding both detergent and vinegar, and the same as before, add baking soda before the area dries completely.

You can also use the carpet cleaner for other types of stains, it works quite well for food, wine and even vomit stains. The difference with vomit is that you need to remove any solids that are left in the area, before adding your cleaning solution and letting it sit for a long time about 25 - 30 minutes before starting the cleaning process.

Pet Odors

To remove pet odors from your sofa, couch, mattress or any area that is not so easy to clean you can add a mixture of baking soda and a few drops of essential oils of your choice, the baking soda will absorb the bad odors, and the essential oils will be replacing them. Let the mixture sit for about 1-2 hours or as long as you what, we recommend leaving it overnight, the great thing about this method is all you need to clean up is to use your vacuum and if there is any residue left just grab a damp towel and wipe it off.
