Things to Consider Before You Have Your House Cleaned:

  • What kind of condition is this?

  • How soon do I need the cleaning service?

  • What type of cleaning is needed?

  • For recurring services, how often does your home need to be cleaned?

  • What is the square footage of the house that needs cleaning?

Tips for Hiring a Maid Cleaning Service in Minneapolis

Whatever schedule you use for hiring a maid service, the less time they spend cleaning your home the lower your cost will generally be. It may not make sense to you to hire a maid service and then spend your time cleaning your house so they don’t have to work so hard, but there are little things you can do that don’t take much time but can save you a bit of money.

Remember that the cleaners are there to focus on doing a thorough cleaning job. This means that you can take a few moments to wipe down a surface and make it “basically clean”.

  • Cleaning up spills and doing the dishes means that the maid will spend less time getting your countertops sparkling clean.

  • Pick up any and all clutter. While this can be a major chore if you have small children, you can still teach them early to put away things they’ve brought out. Many cleaning services won’t pick up clutter because they don’t want to be held responsible for broken or missing items. By keeping it picked up, they won’t have to wait for you to do it.

  • Sweeping takes less time than you think. Especially if you live in a high dust area like California’s Central Valley, dust from outside can coat your floor in an almost undetectable layer until you try to mop. Routine sweeping takes a few moments and ensures that mopping takes less time.

  • Have everyone make their beds and throw dirty clothes into the hamper.

  • Do a quick wipe-down of your bathroom once a week including the tub, tiles, and shower. This keeps mildew and soap scum from building up so easily, which means the cleaning service will spend less time sanitizing your bathroom.

The key to making your Minneapolis House Cleaner work is to not worry about getting it perfectly clean. Leave that to the professionals. They can also handle the harder areas. In fact, less time working on the easier places gives them more time to focus on harder areas to clean. They can also dedicate more time to getting those easily-forgotten places:

  • Ceiling corners (a haven for cobwebs)

  • Doorknobs

  • Light switches

  • Telephones

  • Baseboards

  • Trim

  • Molding

  • Toilet

  • Behind the toilet

  • Ceiling fans

  • Tops of cabinets and tall furniture

  • Behind major appliances (Some stoves are installed in a nook that has a two-inch or so ledge against the backsplash. This keeps the stove from being shoved up against the wall, but it’s also a place for grease and dust to collect. Also, dust collecting on your refrigerator’s coils can make it run less efficiently and overheat the compressor.)

How Much Should a Local Maid Service in Minneapolis Cost?

The average price nationwide for cleaning service is $152.00 per visit. This price can sometimes be lowered by signing a contract for regular service. More visits often will lower the cost per visit by $5.00 or $10.00. On a first-time visit, a cleaning service may charge by the square foot. This helps them get an idea of how long it will take to clean your house and to get an idea of what requires special attention (high ceiling fans, antiques, etc.). For the typical home, this comes out to around $130.00.

Cleaning services in Minneapolis also are available on a one-time basis. You might consider this service for a move-in or move-out cleaning, or you might need help cleaning up before or after a holiday party. This can cost around $200.00 to $300.00.

Sometimes you can hire a service to do a particular task or group of tasks. Perhaps you don’t need your entire house cleaned; maybe you just have a bathroom that’s gotten out of control or a living room that looks like a hurricane has blown through. Here are some average costs for individual tasks you might have a cleaning service handle.

What Is Typically Included In A House Cleaning Or Maid Service?

Typically, a maid service provides a basic cleaning. These are the ongoing tasks that get done on a routine basis. This normally includes:

  • Sweeping

  • Vacuuming

  • Mopping

  • Dishes

  • Dusting

  • Stovetops

  • Beds

  • Sinks

  • Tubs and showers

  • Toilets

  • Vanities

  • Faucets

  • Doorknobs

  • Baseboards

Maids may charge extra for some services, especially if they involve hard-to-reach areas or require special cleaning methods or solutions. For example, some antiques may be harmed if modern cleaning chemicals are used on them. They may require certain organic mixtures to avoid damaging wood or designs. High shelves or fixtures suspended from cathedral-type ceilings may also cost extra. Cleaning the insides of appliances can also cost extra.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Cleaning Services in Minneapolis

Nobody likes to clean – that’s why we do it for you! But we know cleaning services aren’t free. You made a calculated decision to hire a cleaning service to improve the health and productivity of your workplace. So, we want to make sure you get a great return on your investment.

Here’s how you can get the most out of your Minneapolis cleaning service, and your hard-earned money, in 2018:

Don’t clean before the cleaners arrive. Trust us, we’ve seen worse, and cleaning is what you hired us to do. There’s no need to clean up to impress us.

Do tidy up your space before the cleaners get there. You are paying for us to clean, not to put away clutter. That’s money wasted if we have to spend time moving things around or can’t get to a spot that needs to be cleaned.

If you want a particular area to be given special attention, make it easier for us! Be sure to point out the spot and move any large furniture that might be in the way before we arrive. This will save our time and your money – everyone wins!

Inform your cleaning service of any special instructions before they get there. Got office allergies? Do certain areas require specific cleaning products or guidelines? Cleaners aren’t mind readers. Let them know what you want and they will be happy to accommodate your request.

If you’re starting a new service, have someone there for the first cleaning, especially if there are specific instructions to be explained. It’s better to explain things face to face rather than through a note that can be misunderstood, forgotten, or not even noticed at all.

Warn your regular cleaners of what to expect if there is a particularly daunting mess to clean up. Surprises can be fun, but not this kind, and nobody likes to be unprepared for a stinky, sticky mess without the proper cleaning products. If we aren’t prepared, we can’t clean your space as thoroughly as possible.

Remember to thank your cleaners. A little gratitude goes a long way. After all, your cleaning service is an integral part of keeping a healthy, well-running workplace. Keep your cleaners feeling appreciated and you’ll be sure to always find your workspace nice and clean. We all like some credit for our hard work, right?

Regular Cleaning Services Minneapolis: How to Choose the Right Maid Service

We’ve been in the cleaning business long enough to know that hiring a cleaning service isn’t for everyone. Some people like to do it themselves. Some people aren’t comfortable having someone else clean their bathrooms (although these folks are in the minority—most people would LOVE to give up that job). And some people think it’s an expense they should best do without.

The many people who decide to use a cleaning service, do so for the opposite reasons. They hire a maids service because they hate to clean (especially bathrooms). They use a cleaning team because they don’t have the time or energy to tackle necessary housework on top of their busy lives. They choose the bi-weekly or monthly expense because of the value it offers them; it gives them the ability to focus on their other commitments that can’t be outsourced.

For those that decide to use a cleaning service, choosing the right one is a thoughtful and personal process and one that usually includes these five tips.

Ask the right questions Most reputable cleaning services will offer a free estimate of services over the phone or in person. Before you get to this point, use the initial phone call to ask them the questions that are important to you. Things like the number of people on the cleaning team, the length of time required per housecleaning, the type of products used, their license and insurance information—all of this information is important not only in making sure you are comfortable with the company, but also to outline your expectations for the services provided.

Stick with the professionals We don’t just say this because we’re the professionals. Using a cleaning company that is bonded, insured, dedicated to quality service, and held to those standards is beneficial for a number of reasons, including a personalized cleaning plan, an always-available team, consistent quality standards, thorough yet efficient cleaning, and a trusted reputation.

Be honest about what you need When doing the initial walk through, many people make the mistake of cleaning their homes before The Maids gets there. Commit to your “normal” so that the cleaning team knows exactly what to expect every time they walk in, and they can budget their time and staffs accordingly. (This also lets you get the full-service treatment you want in a cleaning service. You don’t want to have to get into the habit of always cleaning before they come because that kind of defeats the purpose).we’re the professionals.

9 Key Factors to Consider When Choosing House Cleaning Services

  • Reviews. Ask cleaning companies to provide you with past client reviews who can vouch for the quality of their service. Many keep Written recommendations from their clients on file.

  • Experience and training. Experience is critical, but it's far better when backed by specific and ongoing training. Ask for information about the training staff cleaners receive, who trains them, and how often their training is refreshed and updated.

  • Certifications. Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIVlS), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, and ClMS Green Building -- these are all things that are going to protect you and your company and, in some cases, save you substantial money. Ask for a list of all certifications related to your business.

  • Insurance. Make sure any commercial cleaning company you consider is fully insured for the safety and security of you, your company and your facility.

  • Availability. Ask your cleaner about blackout times in their schedule. Do they have any? What is their policy on emergency requests or issues that arise outside of regular business hours? Get real-life examples of how they've come through for specific clients.

  • Accountability. Find out how the cleaner Will measure and track their success on your job site. How will you provide feedback and what will they do with it? is there a formal complaint procedure? Can they provide you with tracking tools?

  • Green cleaning. Green used to be the next big thing, but now it's solidly today's big thing, and it's definitely here to stay. Find out what green cleaning products, processes, and certifications the cleaner has-and whether they can help your business get the kinds of green certifications that will help meet your environmental goals.

  • Customizable plans and programs. Don't get cornered into a cleaning program that provides too much or not quite enough for your facility. Ask the cleaner if they offer any add-on services that could streamline your processes and improve your bottom line.

  • Safety. Make sure any company you Work with is compliant with OSHA laws, provides uniforms and/or badges to make their staff easily recognizable, has established processes and procedures for protecting confidential records and keeping doors locked, and will otherwise keep your staff, facility, clients, and cleaning personnel as safe as possible.

  • Supplies and equipment. Ask about the products and equipment the cleaning company uses. Are they environmentally friendly? Do they buy local? What's the quality of their products and equipment? How much are they spending on supplies, and do they actively look for ways to save?

  • The people factor. Ask to meet the person who will be managing your account. Find out what procedures are in place for replacing cleaning personnel that aren't getting the job done or otherwise aren't a fit for your facility.

6 Reasons Paying a Minneapolis House Cleaner Is Worth It

1. A house cleaner forces us to keep it together.

We don't have a housekeeper, someone who does it all, right down to folding and putting away all the socks. As lovely as it sounds, paying someone to take care of us full-time is out of our price range for sure.

What we do pay for is cleaning the tough stuff. And that means that the night before Melissa comes, the house has to be tidy, with everything in its place, so nothing stands in the way of things that need a good cleaning.

If she wasn't coming, who knows how messy it would get? Me! I do! It would get very, very messy.

2. It's easier to get the family involved.

I have three sons, one husband, and a dog in the house, and, without Melissa, it's highly likely that most of the cleaning or the nagging would fall to me. Melissa makes it easier for us to share responsibility equally. I still have to nag a little, but I'm just asking people to clean up after themselves, and it's hard to argue with that. (And before you jump on my kids: They're actually good about cleaning, but they're kids, and they don't like doing it any more than the rest of us do, so I have to nag. The husband, on the other hand, you may feel free to shame a little bit.)

3. I get to spend more time on household tasks I enjoy, like cooking and ironing

Cooking is more fun than mopping, ironing is more fun than making a bed, and organizing a cabinet is more fun than vacuuming — at least for me. Paying Melissa to do the things I enjoy least makes the time I spend doing the other things more pleasant. (And, yes, I do like to iron. Or at least I don't hate it. I usually watch a movie or catch up on my Real Housewives, who incidentally never iron, while ironing on a Friday night. I'm fun!)

4. We don't have to make decisions about cleaning supplies

I never know what to get in the cleaning aisle. Well, that's not totally true. I reach for the brands my parents used, like Pledge, Windex, Bon Ami, and Soft Scrub. But then I worry that I should buy more natural versions. But then they don't work. And I learn that some of those old-school brands are pretty close to the all-natural ones. Or I buy some tile cleaner, but it runs out and I forget to replace it until the toilet overflows and we need it right that second.

Melissa brings all her own supplies, they seem to work well, and they smell fine. Although we obviously keep cleaning supplies for the days in between, they don't run out very quickly and I'm rarely left without. Hooray!

5. Monday feels like a fresh start

Before Melissa, Alice cleaned our house. She came on Wednesdays, because a mid-week clean seemed like a nice idea and my parents had a house cleaner on Wednesdays.

But Monday is so much better! Coming home to a clean house and cooking something I love, then sitting around the table talking about the week ahead makes me happy. It feels like an extension of a relaxing weekend. No matter what happened last week, no matter how busy the weekend was, Monday is a new day. Coming home to a little sparkle and a fresh smell and sitting down at a clean table helps me look forward to the rest of the week.

6. We really appreciate what we have

I know, I know — but stick with me. There are times when Melissa can't make it; either she's sick, or on vacation, or doing any of the other things that make us miss work every now and then. In her absence, our home is a lot harder to maintain, and we know it. I've spent a lot of time talking to the kids about how lucky we are to be able to pay someone to clean, and how important it is to pay fairly. It's a hard job, one worth paying for.

Top 6 Benefits Of Hiring Professional House Cleaners For Minneapolis

Today, most families keep very hectic schedules. Work, school, classes and sports all take up all the precious hours of the day and the week. Often house cleaning takes a backseat to more enjoyable activities, and that’s a good thing for most families. If you find that you have less and less time for housekeeping, consider the benefit of hiring professional house cleaners to take care of these tasks.

1 – Cleaning Done on the Schedule You Want

Hiring professional cleaners allows you to set the schedule you want to have your home cleaned on a regular basis. You won’t have to wait to “get around” to doing these chores yourself. Just tell the cleaners what you want done, and it will be taken care of, quickly and correctly.

2 – Professional Cleaners Have the Experience To Do It Right

One of the biggest benefits of having professional cleaners caring for your home is their ability to use the best products and techniques to get the job done right. You don’t have to purchase a wide range of products that may or may not do a good job. Professional cleaners know what works and will provide the right products for your home’s needs.

3 – More Time To Do What You Want

If you want more time to spend with family, having professional cleaners for your home will allow you to enjoy experiences and make new memories. If you want a little time for your own pursuits, having professional cleaners will free up the time you need to spend on hobbies, classes, educational pursuits or volunteering.

4 – Less Fatigue

If you are like most families today, keeping up with the demands of work and children keep you exhausted. Professional cleaners will allow you to get a little more rest so you can enjoy your time off with family and friends, instead of spending your energy on housekeeping chores.

5 – Consistent Results

Professional house cleaners will ensure that your home is sparkling clean, week after week, regardless of the other events that are going on in your life. Your home will be cleaned consistently and will be ready for company, unscheduled guests or other spur-of-the-moment activities, regardless of how busy the rest of your life is.

6 - For Move-in/Out Cleanings or Real Estate Cleaning you will receive a professionally cleaned inside refrigerator/freezer, oven cleaning and window cleaning for your rental property or selling property. Also, for these types of cleanings we clean inside all cabinets and drawers and inside closets.
