How To Properly Clean Different Floors

Cleaning floors is quite simple but not all floors are the same and they all need their own special type of care, we will help you find the best way to clean your type of floor. We will talk about Ceramic, hardwood and vinyl flooring.

Hardwood

Let’s start with the most common hardwood floors, they will last you a long time if you take proper care of them. First with a dust mop or a vacuum pick up all the dust, crumbs, pet hair, and all of the rest of the debris, then in a bucket of warm water mix your cleaning solution in a bucket, we recommend a house-made vinegar solution for a more natural clean, store brand work as well just follow the instructions correctly, after that use a sponge or a mop and submerge it in the bucket and rinse out until damp, proceed to clean the floor but don’t use too much force that you damage the hardwood flooring, after that repeat but with just water to remove any cleaning solution that is left on the floor and finish drying the floor with a towel, remember that leaving water on the floor can damage it over time.

Ceramic

This type of floor does not require much maintenance as long as you clean your floor regularly and clean up spills as soon as they happen, but the grout is a different story, this is the are in between all the tiles, grout is very porous and can absorb grease and other debris and having the grout look dirty makes your hole floor look the same, you can use a store brand grout cleaner, and for a stronger solution use diluted bleach and with a small brush clean the stained grout.

Vinyl

Here’s how to clean vinyl floors. Wipe up spills as soon as they happen with plain water. This helps prevent stains, you’ll need to clean your floor more thoroughly and more often like once a week. First, vacuum or dry mop the floor to remove dust, pet hair, and dirt, then mix apple cider vinegar with water. The vinegar’s acidity removes dirt without leaving any soapy film, mix 1 part apple cider vinegar and 3 parts hot water. Use a damp mop to apply to the floor, rinsing the mop frequently with clean with hot water from another bucket or your sink. For extra cleaning power, add a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap to the water and vinegar mixture. Mop first with the soap mixture and then mop a second time with the water and vinegar mixture. Here are tips on how to clean a really dirty vinyl floor. With a paste of baking soda and water. Rub it on the floor with a soft towel until the stain lifts. Clean the baking soda off the floor with a vinegar and water solution. if you want to add shine to your floor just ad a few drops of baby oil into the mixture from before.
