Biz vs OxiClean (Compared And Tested)

Ever found yourself staring at the cleaning aisle, wondering whether to grab Biz or OxiClean?

Well, you're not alone. These two laundry boosters have been duking it out for the top spot in our washing machines for years. But which one really gets the job done?

You are about to find out!

In this post, I’ll compare Biz vs OxiClean against a number of different factors to help you figure out which you should get.

And, I also did an experiment with both of these, which I’ll talk about at the end.

Biz - Quick Overview

Biz has been around for ages, and people really trust it. The main active ingredient in Biz is enzymes - they're great at breaking down stains from stuff like blood, grass, and food.

The enzymes basically break down protein molecules, effectively removing stubborn stains.

You can get Biz as a powder or a liquid, so you can pick whatever works best for you.

One cool thing about Biz is that it works well in hot or cold water, so you can use it on all sorts of clothes without worrying.

OxiClean - Quick Overview

OxiClean is newer, but it's gotten pretty popular pretty fast.

The main active ingredient in Oxiclean is oxygen-based bleach. When you mix it with water, it  basically releases oxygen molecules that break down all kinds of stains at a molecular level.

People like it because it's safe for colors and can handle both natural and artificial stains.

Biz vs OxiClean

The main difference between Biz and OxiClean is that Biz excels at removing protein-based stains due to its enzyme formula, is generally cheaper, and has a light clean scent.

OxiClean, on the other hand, is more versatile for both laundry and household cleaning, offers unscented options, and can brighten clothes over time with its oxygen-based cleaning.

Let’s take a look at this in more detail:

#1 Cleaning Power

When it comes to getting clothes clean, both Biz and OxiClean have their strong points.

Biz is really good at protein stains because of all those enzymes. It's great for blood, sweat, grass, and food stains.

OxiClean is more of an all-around player. It can handle lots of different stains, even some that Biz might struggle with, like red wine or coffee.

But if you've got a really tough protein stain that's been there for a while, Biz might be your best bet.

#2 Scent

The smell of your laundry products can be a big deal.

Biz usually has a light, clean smell that won't overpower your clothes or clash with your fabric softener.

OxiClean, in its original form, doesn't have a smell at all. But if you like your clothes to have a bit of fragrance, OxiClean does make some scented versions.

If smells bother you, you might want to go for the unscented OxiClean.

#3 Versatility

Both of these products are pretty flexible, but in different ways.

You can use Biz to pre-treat stains, throw it in with your regular wash, or soak really dirty clothes in it. It's safe for most fabrics, even the delicate ones.

OxiClean is just as flexible for laundry, but it goes a step further.

You can use it to clean other stuff around your house too, like carpets, furniture, and even things outside.

#4 Ease Of Use

Using either of these products isn't too complicated.

Biz mixes with water easily, and you can just add it to your wash. OxiClean is a powder, so it might take a little more effort to dissolve, especially in cold water.

But OxiClean comes with a scoop that makes it easy to measure out how much you need.

Just be careful with both of them - they can irritate your skin and eyes if you're not careful.

#5 Prices

Price is often a deciding factor for many consumers. Usually, Biz is cheaper than OxiClean, especially if you're buying a lot at once.

And remember, you can use OxiClean for more than just laundry, so some people think it's worth the extra cost.

Keep in mind that prices can be really different depending on where you live and where you shop.

#6 Special Features

Biz's special thing is its enzyme formula, which is really good at tackling organic stains. This makes it great for families with kids or athletes who deal with a lot of grass and sweat stains.

OxiClean's special feature is its oxygen-based cleaning. Not only does it get rid of stains, but it can also make your clothes brighter and whiter over time.

Plus, OxiClean is safe for colored clothes, so you can use it on pretty much anything.

#7 Environmental Impact

Both Biz and OxiClean are trying to be better for the environment.

Biz's enzyme formula is biodegradable, which is good if you're worried about the planet. OxiClean breaks down into oxygen, water, and soda ash, which are generally safe for the environment.

The downside is that both come in plastic packaging, which isn't great.

But OxiClean does offer some products in recyclable packaging, so it might have a slight edge here.

Testing Biz Vs Oxiclean On Soiled Baby Socks

I decided to do a little experiment to see how these two products stack up in the real world. I used some really dirty baby socks to test them out.

Here's what I did: I made two identical solutions, one with Biz and one with OxiClean. I used two tablespoons of each product mixed into two cups of hot tap water.

Then I took two equally dirty baby socks - we're talking mud and highlighter ink here - and put one in each solution.

I swished them around a bit to make sure they were fully covered, then left them to soak for about 4-5 hours, just like the instructions say.

Results

After they'd been soaking for a while, I took a look.

Both solutions were pretty dirty, which means both products were working to clean the socks. The OxiClean solution was a bit sudsy and looked a little dirtier than the Biz solution.

When I rinsed the socks, they were both way cleaner than before, but you could still see some stains. To be honest, the results were really similar - neither product was clearly better than the other in this test.

Verdict?

Based on this little experiment, both Biz and OxiClean did a good job cleaning really dirty stuff. The OxiClean solution looked like it pulled more dirt out of the sock, but in the end, both socks looked about the same.

Since Biz is usually cheaper than OxiClean, it might be the better deal if they work about the same.

But remember, this was just one test - different stains and fabrics might give you different results.

Wrapping Up

To wrap it up, both Biz and OxiClean have their good points and can really help get your clothes clean.

Which one you choose might depend on what kind of stains you usually deal with, how much you want to spend, and whether you want something you can use for more than just laundry.

Either way, both of these products can be great additions to your laundry routine.
