Festival of Nations

Celebrated in mid-May and started in 1932, Festival of Nations is considered as the longest running, oldest, and most diverse multicultural festival in the Midwest. It promotes cultural diversity in its community that about 100 ethnic groups attend and celebrates cultural heritage through performances, demonstrations, dancing, cuisine, and exhibits.

Grand Old Day

It is the largest 1-day festival in the Midwest United States that is being held in Minneapolis–Saint Paul, Minnesota every first Sunday in June and is recognized as one of the best Minnesota festivals for people of all ages and interests.

Grand Celebration Powwow

This is being held in Hinckley, Minnesota annually in mid-June. It is an American Indian Culture celebration which people from diverse indigenous nations come along together for the purpose of singing, honoring the traditions of their ancestors and dancing. The term powwow was originated in one of the Algonquian nations of the Northeast Indians which derives from a curing ritual.

Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival

This is an authentic Scandinavian event featuring entertainment, Viking-Age crafts, dancing, demonstrations, seminars, food, and other activities at the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County. It is being held in Moorhead, Minnesota every year from Mid-June to late-June.

Minneapolis Aquatennial

This festival is being celebrated annually in mid-July in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Minneapolis Aquatennial is a celebration that offers water ski shows, beach parties, classic car shows, sandcastle contests, sports tournaments, milk carton boat races, and the fireworks show along the Mississippi River.

Dragon Festival

Dragon Festival offers the healing arts, cultural performances, martial arts, and indoor/outdoor Asian games. It is the ever popular Dragon Festival at Lake Phalen Park in Saint Paul, Minnesota and is being held every year in mid-July.

Sommerfest Minneapolis

This is a 4-week long celebration happens every July to August of the year. It is being held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, an annual summertime musical celebration by the Minnesota Orchestra who runs the show featuring works by composers such as Mozart, Gershwin, and Beethoven that is perfect for those with a love for the classics. Osmo Vänskä, a Finnish conductor is the musical director of the Minnesota Orchestra who has been there since 1903.

Irish Fair Minnesota

Celebrated in mid-August in Harriet Island, Saint Paul, Minnesota, The Irish Fair of Minnesota is a charitable nonprofit organization that is dedicated to supporting the Irish community in Minnesota. Harriet Island Regional Park in downtown St. Paul has hosted the Irish Fair of Minnesota since 2001. It is one of the most authentic Irish festivals nationwide and one of the most family-friendly events in the Twin Cities.

Minnesota State Fair

Started in 1859, Minnesota State Fair is being held every mid-August to early-September of the year in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It is also known as “The Great Minnesota Get-Together”. The 322-acre Minnesota State Fairgrounds is located mid-way between Minneapolis and St. Paul it is renowned for its architecture and beautiful gardens reflecting the art decoration and Works Progress Administration eras. Minnesota State Fair is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region that attracts more than 2 million guests annually.

Minnesota Renaissance Festival

It is the largest and oldest Renaissance Festival in the United States founded in 1971. This is being held in Shakopee, Minnesota every weekend of mid-August to end of September. The festival attracts more than 280,000 people each year featuring all sorts of medieval fun such as jousting and knights. It is an interactive outdoor event that recreates the feel and looks of the 16th Century "England-like" fantasy kingdom with hundreds of medieval crafters, more than 800 unique entertainments, and food booths.

Barnesville Potato Days

This is being held in Barnesville, Minnesota every late-August of the year that celebrates unusual potato activities such as potato sacking and sculpting, Miss Tator Tot Pageant, the chance to taste tempting potato specialties, and mashed potato wrestling.

Big Island Rendezvous and Festival

This festival is a two-day event that hosts different performance areas with music and dance continuously throughout both days during 1st weekend in October every year at Albert Lea, Minnesota. It offers Arts & Crafts, Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Childrens' Atmosphere, Parades & Drills, Period Encampments, Blackpowder Shooting Competition, Voyageur Camp, Historical Exhibits & Reenactments and Stage Entertainment.

Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon

This has been ongoing for 38 years that is being held in Twin Cities, Minneapolis, Minnesota every early-October of the year. The festival’s mission is to help inspire the Twin Cities and the world and ignite everyone's inner athlete.

MayDay Parade and Festival

Celebrating its 45 years, MayDay 2019’s theme is “Beloved Community”.  This festival consists of three parts which are the Parade, the Ceremony, and the Festival. The event is being produced by the In the Heart of the Beast Theater since 1975.

Lumberjack Days

This is being held in Stillwater, Minnesota that offers shows, parade, and downhill derby, a three-day celebration every 3rd week of July. In 1934, the famous lumberjack who performed at the very first Lumberjack Days was Harold Fischer.

Bayfront Blues Festival

It is one of the largest annual outdoor music events in the upper Midwest that plays blues and blues/rock music genre. This is being held every 2nd week of August in Duluth, Minnesota.

Ely Winter Festival

This is a 10-day celebration starts every 2nd week of February in Ely, Minnesota. The Ely Ski Club, also known as the Ely Nordic Ski Club started a cross-country ski race running from Tower to Ely in 1984 which was called the Wilderness Trek. They set up booths at the finish line, and now, live music and food were added to the festivities.

Oktoberfest

This was founded by the German Immigrants which is being celebrated in New Ulm, Minnesota every first two weekends in October each year. It features indoor and outdoor band stages.

Festival Palomino

Festival Palomino is a musical festival h\osted and curated by Trampled By Turtles, Minnesota’s perennial favorite Americana band. It is being held in Minneapolis, Minnesota every mid-September that offers 17 bands and 3 stages, rides, food, and clothing.

Moose Madness Family Festival

The festival is being held at 19 1st Avenue West, Grand Marais. They have these popular events such as The Lake Superior Zoomobile, The Moose Medallion hunt, Kid Rock n Roll band "The Bazillions", and The annual Moose Mosey. You can earn Moose bucks that can be spent on prizes at Moose Headquarters aka Grandma Ray’s.

St. Paul Winter Carnival

This is being held in Saint Paul, Minnesota every year between late-January to early-February since 1886. It is the United States’ oldest Winter Festival that showcases all the beauty of Minnesota winters. With the height of 106 feet, the Saint Paul’s first ice castle was constructed on February 1, 1886, at a cost of $5,210.
